I’ve been hard at work, both at work and on the new record. Sixteen songs have been recorded for it, and I’m in the process of doing final mixes on some of them, and rerecording a few bit parts on others. It’s nearly through. I honestly can’t wait to turn these mixes over to Audible Images for mastering.

In the meantime, as a preview, here’s a rough mix of the song “Goodbye to All That.” Hope you like it…let me know what you think, before it’s too late to influence!

Sounds great! Stacy and I both commented on how great your voice sounds and the ditty is VERY catchy!

Ahhh… I remember playing this tune back in the day! Let me know if you want a copy of the rough rehearsals for this or any of your other songs that we attempted. (This was one of my faves, BTW.) Nice guitar interplay and I always liked the lyrics.

My mix suggestions: Run some tube compression on the drums and bass (like a vintage Fairchild effect, etc.) so you can boost them up in the mix. Then you can get more punch out of the kick drum and the stick work on the cymbals and snare. Add some plate reverb effect to the background vocals and bring them down a bit. They’ll add a nice back-drop texture without overpowering the rest of the instrumentation. Crank up the distorted guitar part on the bridge. I always though it would be interesting if you added a coda of “Just Like Heaven” at the end of the tune… I nice little wink and nudge to that obscure band that no one’s heard of!
